ST. LOUIS – An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was fatally struck overnight in south St. Louis.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports that the crash happened around 1 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Hampton and Nottingham avenues in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood.

Police say a man in his 60s was struck and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Based on a preliminary investigation, it’s believed that a driver was heading south on Hampton when the pedestrian was walking across the road and struck.

SLMPD says the driver of the car that struck the man remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
