EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – One person was fatally shot Monday evening at a McDonald’s in East St. Louis, according to Illinois State Police.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday at a McDonald’s restaurant in the 500 block of 24th Street.

Around that time, authorities responded to a report of shots fired at the restaurant. When investigators arrived, they found a victim who had been shot multiple times. The victim was then rushed to a hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Investigators did not identify the victim by name, age, or gender.

No suspect information is available at this time. Illinois State Police say this is an active and ongoing investigation in tandem with the East St. Louis Police Department.
