CEDAR HILL, Mo. – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced that they have arrested a man following a fight that turned into a shooting in Cedar Hill Thursday evening.

Hunter Kirkpatrick, 19, was charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.

Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were notified of a fight in the 7000 block of Cedar Hill Rd. Upon arrival, police were investigating the fight when another broke out between Kirkpatrick and a 21-year-old man.

According to police, Kirkpatrick pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times, and he was immediately taken into custody.

“I’m certain the victim is alive today because of the quick actions by deputies at the scene who jumped in to provide first aid until EMS crews from Big River Ambulance District arrived,” Sheriff Dave Marshak said. “I’d like to commend the deputies, EMS, nurses, and surgeons who saved this young man’s life.”

A release states that the 21-year-old is still undergoing treatment at a hospital.
