The crash happened on January 8 at around noon. When police responded, they found Thompson lying in the street, disoriented and injured. Emergency medical services transported him to the hospital, where he was treated for a head injury and broken ribs and initially released on January 11. On January 12, Thompson was found deceased at his home by a parent.
