ST. LOUIS – “Pompeii: The Exhibition” opens May 16 at the St. Louis Science Center, showcasing nearly 150 artifacts recovered from the ancient city of Pompeii.

The exhibition will feature a wide array of items, including an ornate vase, jewelry, weapons, armor and the body casts of the people who died during the catastrophic volcanic eruption in 79 AD.

Visitors will also see household items such as plates, cups and pots, offering a glimpse of daily life in Pompeii before its destruction.

“The nearly 150 pieces you see throughout the show are all authentic. It’s really incredible. Some of them almost look to flawless to be real but they are,” said Kaylia Eskew, manager of Special Exhibitions.

Pompeii, located in Italy, was destroyed when Mount Vesuvius erupted, burying the city under volcanic ash and preserving it for centuries.

The exhibition will run from May 16 through mid-September, giving visitors ample opportunity to explore the historical treasures.

Tickets are currently on sale, allowing guests to plan their visit to this unique and educational experience.
