ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A previously convicted felon who was recently released from jail on a personal recognizance bond is back in police custody for an armed hold-up.
According to the Ferguson Police Department’s probable cause statement, the robbery occurred Monday morning at the McDonald’s on West Florissant Avenue in Ferguson.
Police said Tasean Reid and the victim were both inside the business. The victim had ordered breakfast and got up to get condiments. Reid walked over, took the victim’s food, and left.
The victim followed Reid outside McDonald’s and demanded his food back.
Police said Reid turned around, displayed a handgun, and told the victim, “This is my food now. I advise you to leave before you get shot.” The victim went back to the restaurant and called 911 while Reid ran away on foot.
Police located Reid a short time later inside a bathroom at the North County Transit Center, not far from McDonald’s. Officers recovered a handgun with an extended magazine inside the bathroom trash can.
According to police, Reid has been out on bond since March 7 for possession of a defaced firearm charge in Hazelwood. He has a prior conviction in St. Louis City for possession of a controlled substance, which he was sentenced to three years of probation and parole. And in March 2023, Reid pleaded guilty in in St. Louis County Circuit Court to resisting arrest and received credit for time served.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Reid with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Reid remains jailed on a $75,000 cash-only bond. A future court date was not available on online records.
