ST. LOUIS – During spring freezes, it’s important to protect your plants from sudden drops in temperature that can stunt growth or even kill new buds that are coming in.
First things first, if you can bring your potted plants inside, whether that’s in your house, your garage, a shed or anywhere that’s even a few degrees warmer than outside.
Regardless, you’re going to give your plants the best shot.
It’s a little late if you’re watching this at home right now but for future knowledge, it’s also helpful to water your plants during the day before a freeze, as moist soil retains heat better than dry soil.
For plants rooted in the ground, you’re going to want to protect those from frost damage so use frost shields or any breathable cotton fabric like sheets or pillowcases.
