ST. LOUIS – The USO center at St. Louis Lambert International Airport has reopened with a new look, enhancing its services for military personnel and their families.
The center serves service members, including soldiers going to advanced training, as well as new recruits and military families traveling to and from Fort Leonard Wood.
“We see the joy that they have when they get an opportunity to use this facility,” said Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, director of St. Louis Lambert International Airport. “All the partners out here have been so gracious, and the revitalization of this looks amazing.”
It is also one of the busiest USO airport centers in the country.
The newly improved center now features new computers, a dedicated kids’ room, and charging stations to better accommodate the needs of its visitors.
Michael Capitanelli, a volunteer for USO, shared that it’s rewarding to work with the organization.
“It’s very rewarding and I’m glad to do it for them. I know it’s lonely when you travel. A lot of these troops are on their way to basic training (which can be) a very intimidating experience, so if we can offer them just a little bit of comfort and relaxation. We love doing it,” Capitanelli said.
