ST. LOUIS – An armed suspect carjacked a rideshare driver Friday evening in north St. Louis, police say.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 5700 block of Theodore Avenue in St. Louis’ Walnut Park East neighborhood.

Investigators say the victim, a 49-year-old man, responded to the area while driving for a rideshare company. Once he arrived, a male suspect entered the backside of the passenger seat and held the driver at gunpoint.

According to an SLMPD crime summary report, the suspect ordered the driver out of the car, and a female suspect entered the front passenger side of the car to push the driver out.

The male and the female suspect took off in the driver’s Toyota Camry.

A short time later, Anti-Crime Task Force detectives located the vehicle. The two suspects, later identified as juveniles, were taken into custody.

No injuries were reported in the carjacking.
