ST. LOUIS – For the second time this year, Schnucks has changed its self-checkout rules. Now, the grocer allows customers to purchase up to 15 items in a self-checkout lane.
In February, Schnucks introduced a policy that limited customers to purchase “10 items or less” in the self-checkout lanes.
Advocates were hopeful that the self-checkout change to “10 items or less” would improve customer wait times and employee services elsewhere, while also combatting theft concerns.
A Schnucks spokesperson tells FOX 2, “After listening to feedback from our customers [over several months], we recently increased the self-checkout limit from 10 to 15 items at all stores.”
The company never had a formal announcement about its recent self-checkout policy change, though signs around some St. Louis-area stores now inform customers they can purchase up to 15 items in the self-checkout lanes.
Schnucks was founded in St. Louis in 1939 and has more than 100 stores across four states.
