ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – Around 20,000 senior homeowners in St. Charles County have applied for the senior real estate tax relief program. Eligible seniors have until Sunday, June 30, to apply for the program online.
As many as 36,000 senior residents in the area may be eligible for the program, which freezes the real estate property taxes they owe to all taxing jurisdictions within St. Charles County.
To be eligible for this program, at least one owner of the home must be at least 62 years old as of January 1, 2024, and must provide proof of identification, home ownership and tax liability.
To apply, residents can go to the Saint Charles County website and fill out the online form.
Applications sent by mail must have a postmark of June 29 or earlier.
Those wanting to walk in and drop off their applications in person have until the end of business hours on Friday, June 28 at the County Administration Building lobby located at 201 N. Second Street in St. Charles.
