ST. LOUIS – After a few spots of light rain overnight, we’ll see some clearing into Friday. It will be breezy in the morning, with highs in the mid-30s. It will be quiet and cold Friday night and Saturday. Top temps Saturday will only be around 30 F.
A significant winter storm system arrives late Saturday night and continues all day Sunday and into Monday. The entire viewing area will be impacted but in different ways. Not a lot has changed in the thinking.
The basic break down is heavy snow north of I-70, heavy icing south of metro STL, and a zone in between, roughly between I-70 & 44 in MO and I-70 & 64 in IL, that will see mostly snow but with sleet and freezing rain mixed in.
The storm, as of Friday morning, is offshore of the Pacific Northwest. He is the current timeline breakdown for St. Louis. Late Saturday night, snow begins. Then sleet mixes in into the early hours of Sunday.
Late morning and afternoon Sunday will see more of an icy mix, freezing rain and sleet. Late afternoon and Sunday night, we’ll kick things back over to all snow. Snow exits early Monday.
We will be continually updating the forecast with the latest information. This will have significant impacts on Sunday and also post-holiday back-to-school/work Monday. Heads up, things also get very cold behind this storm early next week.
