BRANSON, Mo. — Silver Dollar City (SDC) is facing a lawsuit following the theme park’s train derailing and causing injuries in 2022.
According to online court dockets filed on Friday, May 2, Ronald and Tammy Yeaton of Wildwood, Missouri, are represented by Brandon Carl Potter of Aaron Sachs & Associates.
The Yeatons say on Oct. 26, 2022, they were traveling on an SDC train when it “began to shake and then tipped over onto its side,” which resulted in passengers — including the Yeatons — getting thrown about the train.
The couple say that SDC failed to properly maintain the train cars and allowed uneven wear of side bearings, which allowed the train to tip over. They also allege that the rails of the ride were not maintained, allowing them to be misaligned.
Due to the train movement, Ronald Yeaton says it caused injury to his neck, lower back, left scapula and his shoulder blades. He also said it caused medical expenses, loss of income and loss of household contributions.
Tammy Yeaton said the negligence of the train cars caused her injures to her neck, back, right wrist and head.
Ronald and Tammy Yeaton’s damages from the park exceed $25,000, and the suit asks for compensation for what the court sees appropriate.
This is second lawsuit filed by the Yeatons against SDC for the same incident, which was filed in early 2024. That suit was dismissed without prejudice on March 10, 2025.
Summons have been issued, and a case review is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, in Stone County Circuit Court.
