ST. LOUIS – Dog walkers near Tower Grove Park navigated the snow piles for a break from the extreme cold Friday. Temperatures inched above the freezing mark, leading to noticeable improvements on area roads.
“The snow is kind of slushy,” Bryan Turner, a St. Louis resident and dog owner, said.
Matt Blakely, another resident, added, “Some of the main streets, things have been pretty clear.”
He spent Friday shoveling the latest round of snow from the sidewalks along his street-corner property.
“I’m shoveling for the fourth time this season,” he said.
Stephen and Audrey Moss carried their five-month-old daughter for a walk on Friday afternoon.
“The sidewalks aren’t as slick, and the roads are clear,” Audrey said.
Her husband, Stephen, is originally from Florida.
“Even after leaving here for 10 years, the snow is still really cool to see,” he said.
St. Louis resident Glen Austin said by Friday, sidewalks were manageable in his south St. Louis neighborhood.
“We walked up to the library, which unfortunately was closed, and then we went on to Schnucks to do a little shopping,” he said. “Not that we really needed anything, but it was fun to just get out.”
