ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Spectrum employee is accused of stealing a diamond wedding ring from a customer’s Bridgeton home and later pawning the jewelry.

According to the Bridgeton Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft happened Dec. 10, 2024.

The victim contacted both police and Spectrum to report her wedding ring, valued at approximately $10,000, had been taken from her home. She said she realized her ring was gone two days after Spectrum employees came to her house to do work on the television in her bedroom.

The ring itself was on a ring holder atop a dresser in the bedroom. The victim said the Spectrum employees were the only other people who’d been inside the home between the last time she saw the ring and realized it was missing.

Police said Spectrum launched an internal investigation. Spectrum, which has the ability to track company-issued vehicles, discovered one of the two employees who’d been to the victim’s home had gone to a pawn shop in St. John later that day.

Police confirmed that the stolen ring had been pawned at the store and identified the employee as Jalyn Leonard.

Leonard turned herself in to Bridgeton authorities. Police said Leonard confessed to taking the victim’s ring and pawning it for $200. She said she needed the money to help family members.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Leonard with stealing – $750 or more. She was issued a criminal summons and ordered to appear in court on April 30.
