ST. LOUIS – From dock diving to an 18-foot waterfall, St. Louis has no shortage of water play for dogs this summer. Treat those beloved furry friends to one of the many swimming pools, lakes and splash pads, whether for free or with a membership, to beat the summer heat.

Happy Hounds Playground

Located in Wildwood, Happy Hounds Playground provides splash pads for both small and large dogs. The 10-acre playground also includes a swimming pond with a dock for diving and even a beach area. Membership is required for this playground and can be purchased starting at $40 for a monthly membership.

Broemmelsiek Park Off-Leash Dog Area

One of the few free options for your dog to enjoy waterplay is at the Broemmelsiek Park dog park. This 5-acre lot in Defiance includes a pond with a dock for diving. As with all of these waterplay locations, dogs must have updated immunization records in order to use the facility.

Williamsburg Pet Hotel and Suites

Available with a reservation or included with “Doggie Day Camp,” the Williamsburg Pet Hotel and Suites provides a saltwater pool for dogs to take a dip in. According to the Williamsburg Pet Hotel, saltwater is better for dogs coats since it is gentler than chlorine. Dogs do need updated vaccinations in order to access this pool located in Town and Country.

Petropolis Canine Cove and Waterfall

With locations in both Chesterfield and St. Charles, Petropolis includes waterplay at both of their locations included in daycare. Daycare rates start at $34.95 for a half day at either location.

Petropolis Chesterfield features “Canine Cove,” a splash pad with three six-foot-tall misting water arches and 18 foaming, misting and steady-flow water jets. The waterpark also includes a 10-foot-tall umbrella with a water curtain and a “water chaser” controlled by staff.

At their St. Charles location, dogs can experience their 18-foot-tall waterfall, streams going throughout the outdoor play area, and misting fans.

Canine Country Kennel and Farm

With 223 acres of farmland, Canine Country Kennel and Farm includes a lake and dock for dogs to enjoy a summer swim. The farm located in Wentzville also includes walking trails that lead to a creek for additional water fun. Membership is required for access, and prices can be found on the Canine Country Kennel and Farm website.

Maplewood Dog Park

Featuring a shallow pool for dogs to wade in, the Maplewood dog park is open to resident and non-resident pups to enjoy. With memberships starting at $20 for residents and $50 for non-residents, this dog park is located in Kellogg Park in Maplewood.
