MISSOURI – Preliminary election results reveal that St. Charles County set a record in votes cast for the November 2024 general election, while voter turnout slipped down in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County.
According to a Wednesday news release from St. Charles County, 228,700 registered voters cast ballots in the county for the general election from the absentee voting period through Election Day, according to unofficial election results.
This mark would break a previous record of 223,533 registered voters casting ballots in the November 2020 general election.
St. Charles County officials noted that voter registrations had increased to record levels ahead of the general election, recently surpassing 300,000. This November’s reported voter turnout mark is roughly 76%, which the county says was slightly lower from 2020, citing increased voter registrations.
According to unofficial election results in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County, it appears voter turnout (in terms of the percentage of ballots cast from registered voters) and the total number of registered voters who voted was down from the 2020 general election.
In November 2020, 540,597 registered voters cast ballots in St. Louis County with a voter turnout mark of 79.28%.
This November, according to preliminary results, 505,298 registered voters cast ballots in St. Louis County with a voter turnout mark of 76.67%.
In November 2020, 134,886 registered voters cast ballots in the City of St. Louis with a voter turnout mark of 66.05%.
This November, according to preliminary results, 116,986 registered voters cast ballots in the City of St. Louis with a voter turnout mark of 59.43%.
