ST. CLAIR, Mo. – One man is dead after the St. Clair Fire Protection District was alerted to a fire Monday morning, according to Fire Chief Tim Wideman.

A call was made surrounding a one-story house fire in the 400 block of Lake Shore Drive just before 6:50 a.m.

Heavy smoke and flames engulfed the home. The entry to one door was blocked, prompting firefighters to enter through a different door.

Upon discovery in the house, the homeowner, a male in his 70s, was found deceased at the scene, according to Wideman.
