ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – One person is in custody after ramming a St. Louis County park ranger’s vehicle while fleeing a north county park Saturday evening. The ranger fired his service weapon at the fleeing vehicle.
According to Sgt. Tracy Panus, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis County Police Department, the shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the 3000 block of Adie Road.
Panus said a park ranger saw two suspicious vehicles in McDonnell Park. The vehicles quickly left the park and one of the cars struck the ranger’s vehicle while leaving.
The ranger fired his weapon at that vehicle. A person of interest was taken into custody a short time later. That individual was not injured by the gunfire.
The park ranger was taken to the hospital after the incident. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Panus said the park ranger is 33 and has four years of law enforcement experience.
