ST. LOUIS — Pianos for People, a non-profit in St. Louis, was featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show Monday for their work donating pianos and giving free lessons to local families.
Featured during the show’s “Rad Humans” segment, the non-profit’s executive director Andy Ament and alum Royce Martin sat down with Kelly Clarkson and award-winning rapper Big Sean to talk about the program.
Pianos for People, located at 3138 Cherokee St, in the city’s Benton Park West neighborhood, has worked to break down financial barriers, creating a bridge between music and low-income households.
Ament talked about the non-profits efforts in giving away free pianos, including free lessons and classes. Martin shared his experience as an alum of the program and how it helped him become a full-time musician and recently finished his first feature film for HBO as a film score composer.
