ST. LOUIS – Uniformed police officers put their department vehicles on display Sunday afternoon for a trunk-or-treat experience at the Schnucks parking lot at Hampton and Gravois.

“This is a trunk or treat with all the first responders in the community,” EMT Hadeal Alhamdani, St. Louis Fire Department, said. “It’s just a great way to have the kiddos and have fun in a safe environment. It’s broad daylight and we have every safety measure you could possibly think of, and they can just have all the fun they want.”

St. Louis police officers spent the afternoon handing out candy and coloring books to children, showing families various vehicles from a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department SWAT truck to an official ice cream van.

“Police, fire, and EMS,” Jon Morrison, paramedic supervisor for the St. Louis City Fire Department. “They got the ambulances; kids can go on there and take a look at them. And they even got the firetrucks, police cars, and bomb squad and SWAT trucks.”

Seeing costumed characters in the daylight in a controlled environment proved to be a welcoming way to spend a Sunday afternoon. And some attendees are still aware that there’s still a week and a half to collect more candy before Halloween.
