ST. LOUIS – Officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department seized four dirt bikes and an ATV overnight as part of an ongoing effort to crack down on reckless driving on city streets.

SLMPD reports this was part of a multi-unit operation during which officers and detectives “spotted vehicles driving reckless.”

Police say the drivers were spotted violating traffic signs and signals, and it also appeared none of the vehicles seized were properly registered or had license plates.

“This type of reckless behavior and disregard will not be tolerated.  It’s simple: Use It. Lose It.,” said SLMPD in a media statement to FOX 2.

When officers approached the five vehicles to further investigate, they were all unoccupied. No arrests have been reported so far in connection with the operation.

This marks at least the second time over the last three weekends in which police have responded to concerns or reports over dirt bikes “driving recklessly.” While investigating such matters on April 19, three people were arrested.
