ST. LOUIS – Crews are working around the clock to clear roads after the snow, with officials urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel.
Streets Department Director Bethany Williams reported that while major arterial roads like Kingshighway and Grand are receiving priority treatment, secondary and residential streets remain snow-covered. Crews are now able to push snow and treat roads after the snow ended.
“Because of the frigid temperatures, we are seeing refreezing and really slick pavement,” Williams said, advising residents to venture out only for emergencies.
The storm has presented unique challenges, marking one of the heaviest snowfalls the city has experienced in years. The department is focusing first on clearing main roads before moving to secondary routes.
