ST. LOUIS – If it seemed like April was more dull and gloomy than normal, that’s because it was. In April 2025, St. Louis saw the most amount of rain recorded—breaking the record from over a century ago.

Over the course of 30 days, the area saw precipitation on 19 of those. The heaviest rainfall came from the following dates:

  • April 4: 3.48 inches
  • April 19: 1.33 inches
  • April 20: 1.82 inches
  • April 29: 0.88 inches
  • April 30: 1 inch

Previously, the record for the wettest April in St. Louis was from 1893—which was 132 years ago—and it brought 10.84 inches of precipitation.

April of this year saw just a slightly higher number than the record, with the total sitting at 10.85 inches.

The new record is over 6 inches more than the normal amount we typically see. With the heavy rainfall, it brought flooding on both sides of the river.
