ST. LOUIS – Demonstrators gathered in Kiener Plaza, downtown St. Louis, to rally in solidarity with the transgender community in honor of International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31.
The large crowd marched to City Hall, carrying flags and signs to show their support for transgender rights and visibility.
Jordan Braxton, a transgender woman and advocate in St. Louis, emphasized the significance of the support shown by the community.
International Transgender Day of Visibility is celebrated worldwide on March 31 to highlight the adversity transgender individuals face.
Events like the rally in St. Louis aim to foster understanding and acceptance.
“It makes me feel wonderful because it makes me feel that I am supported. There are so many people who come out as transgender and don’t get support from their family,” Braxton said. “(This event) goes to show that St. Louis is here to support our trans community.”
