LACLEDE COUNTY, Mo. – A 43-year-old Stoutland man was left dead Monday afternoon after his vehicle struck a bridge retaining wall, ejecting him from the vehicle.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the single vehicle accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Highway T, 2 miles south of Stoutland. The crash involved a Dodge Challenger, officials say.

According to the crash report, the Dodge Challenger was travelling northbound on Highway T when the vehicle travelled off the right side of the roadway and struck a bridge retaining wall.

MSHP says the crash caused the 43-year-old man to be ejected from the Challenger and the vehicle caught fire. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

It is unknown if the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
