BELLEVILLE, Ill. – A beloved annual experience has returned to a local farm.
Eckert’s Farm in Belleville is hosting it’s sunflower farm experience.
“Along with peaches and blackberries, the sunflower will be available to cut as well, starting on Thursday,” Jack Lanxon, assistant farm manager, said.
The bright yellow pedals and dark brown seeds are back for another year beginning Thursday.
“When (guests) actually get out here and see how big the sunflowers actually are, that in itself is something to remember,” Lanxon said.
There are also several other events taking place with the sunflower trail, including a date night, according to Vice President Jill Tantillo.
“You can come meet at the cider shed, get some drinks, relax,” she said. “We have some live music and then come out at your own pleasure and take time in the fields.”
The two-acre field consists of a long path with sunflowers as far as the eye can see, which Lanxon says gives visitors a chance to look around, snap photos, and enjoy the sights.
“That’s something they can look back on forever and will always be a family memory,” Lanxon said.
The sunflower path will be open until Aug. 4.
