BRIDGETON, Mo. – One man is in custody for a fatal shooting outside a Phillips 66 gas station in Bridgeton last week.
According to the Bridgeton Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in the 12200 block of St. Charles Rock Road.
Officers arrived to find the victim, Daunte Martin, suffering from multiple to gunshot wounds to his torso. Martin was taken to the hospital, where he later died. He was 22.
Gabriel G. Roy, the suspected shooter, was detained at the scene, police said.
According to police, Roy and the victim knew one another and got into an argument at the gas station. Roy took out a handgun while the argument continued and eventually shot the victim.
Police said the entire ordeal was recorded on surveillance video. Roy allegedly admitted to the shooting while speaking with investigators.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Roy, 25, with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Roy remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond. No available court date could be found in online records at the time of this story’s initial publication.
Police said Roy has another gun case pending against him.
