ST. LOUIS – A 17-year-old boy from Fairview Heights, Illinois, was arrested for first-degree murder in relation to an east St. Louis shooting that happened on March 23.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) announced the news of the arrest today, with charges filed against the alleged suspect. 

According to officials, a shooting was reported last Sunday in the 2500 block of Bond Ave.

Officers say that Cicero C. Maple, 41, was fatally shot multiple times while standing at a bus stop. 

ISP says the 17-year-old is being held at a juvenile detention center. Due to him being a minor, his identity is withheld.

No further information is available at this time, according to ISP.
