FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – One teen is dead and two others were left injured Tuesday after the vehicle they were riding in overturned in Union.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the accident occurred around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday evening, west of Camp Mo-Val Road at Sandstone Trail in Union. The accident involved a Polaris Ranger UTV driven by a 13-year-old boy.

MSHP says the UTV was traveling northbound in a field with three 13-year-old boys when the driver failed to make a left turn, causing the vehicle to overturn. Officials say the 13-year-old driver of the UTV was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the passengers in the UTV was transported to a nearby hospital suffering from serious injuries. The other passenger sustained minor injuries and stayed at the scene.

MSHP says the 13-year-old driver of the UTV was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the two passengers in the vehicle were.
