SAPPINGTON, Mo. — A third grader from Sappington Elementary School is being praised for saving his mother’s life by using skills he learned at a school assembly.
Max Steingrubey, a student at Sappington Elementary, learned how to respond to seizures during a recent school assembly designed to help students support a classmate with the condition.
Just days after the assembly, Max’s mother experienced a seizure at home.
Max promptly called 9-1-1, then contacted his father, and timed the seizure while waiting for emergency responders.
Max was joined by first responders from the Affton Fire Protection District and County Police from the Affton Southwest Precinct, who commended his quick thinking.
Max’s family expressed their gratitude for the knowledge he applied to save his mother’s life.
Thanks to the skills he learned, Max was able to act swiftly and effectively in a critical situation, highlighting the importance of emergency preparedness education for young students.
