ST. LOUIS – A coffee company with St. Louis origins has been crowned the nation’s “best coffee chain” as part of a national poll conducted by USA Today.
The highly-touted coffee chain was one of several nominated for national spotlight through the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. A panel recently nominated coffee chains of many varieties, looking to determine which chain was “extra appealing” for its reliability, menus, and quality service.
According to the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, Kaldi’s Coffee was named the nation’s best coffee chain.
Kaldi’s Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster and retailer that started as a single coffee shop in the DeMun neighborhood of St. Louis in 1994. The chain specializes in espresso-based and single-origin drinks. Sourcing its beans from various regions worldwide, Kaldi’s also places a strong emphasis on sustainable farming practices and fostering a vibrant coffee culture.
A summary from USA TODAY reads: “With a focus on espresso-based drinks and single-origin coffees, [Kaldi’s] shops are the perfect place to grab an Americano and a breakfast burrito before starting your day.”
Kaldi’s now has 13 locations spread out across the St. Louis region, along with four Atlanta-based locations and one pop-up location in Columbia, Missouri.
To earn this honor, anyone could cast votes to recognize the best coffee chain for several weeks through September. Coffee chains in New York, California and Oregon followed closely behind Kaldi’s while national chains like Starbucks and Dunkin’ also made the Top 10.
