Located at 1395 Covington Manor Lane, Ruma’s Deli has served the St. Louis region since 1974. The restaurant prides itself on fresh Italian sandwiches and specialties. Many menu selections reflect the culinary scene of St. Louis, including toasted ravioli and breads made from “The Hill.”
The Gerber Special is similar in appearance to a flatbread pizza and uses St. Louis-styled Provel cheese, capturing the essence of local comfort foods behind each savory bite. The Gerber Special and mostaccioli are considered among Ruma’s signature items.
LoveFood.com offer the following review of the “Gerber Special” at Ruma’s Deli:
“A St Louis specialty, the Gerber is an open-faced sandwich made with Italian or French bread, topped with garlic butter, ham, and cheese, and then grilled until the cheese is molten. Using a special braising technique to make the ham extra juicy, the juices then drip into the bread as the sandwich is toasted.”
Ruma’s Deli also has an Imperial, Missouri location at 1129 Imperial Main.
