JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – Thousands of people are without power in the St. Louis metro as severe weather rolls through the region.

Ameren reports more than 1,000 outages in Jefferson County as of 2 p.m. Wednesday. Several hundred customers are also without power in south St. Louis County and south St. Louis City.

Right now, in the St. Louis region, there are around 2,500 customers without power in Missouri and around 100 without power in Illinois.

Severe storms have packed rain, hail, heavy winds and even some tornado threats Wednesday afternoon. Severe weather is expected in the region through the evening hours.
