ST. LOUIS — This week’s winter storm is here, bringing snow across the area through early Wednesday morning.

Tuesday morning:

Light snow is moving through the region, with up to 1 inch of accumulation overnight. Snow is sticking to roads due to the bitter cold, making for a slick morning commute. Winds are also blowing the powdery snow around, reducing visibility.

Tuesday afternoon and evening:

A heavier round of snow arrives in the afternoon and continues into the night. The heaviest snow will fall south of I-70, where snowfall rates could exceed an inch per hour. North of I-70, including St. Louis, totals will be lower due to colder, drier air pushing the storm south.

Early Wednesday:

Snow tapers off before sunrise, but roads will remain snow-covered and icy.
