ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Two exotic servals were rescued on Friday after a car accident in St. Louis County and are now sheltered at the APA Adoption Center in Olivette.

According to the St. Louis County health director, Dr. Kanika Cunningham, one of the exotic cats was injured in the accident and was taken to a local veterinary hospital after blood was seen on its nose.

The two servals native to Africa are currently on a diet of raw chicken and were placed in the shelter’s “dog quarantine” area.

Dr. Cunningham said after the servals were placed in the care of APA Olivette, many of the shelter’s large dogs had to be moved in order to make space for the cats.

APA Olivette said in a news release that they are now over capacity and are waiving adoption fees on all pets from November 8 through November 10. To see the pets currently up for adoption or fostering, visit the APA’s website.
