ST. LOUIS – Police say a car that caught fire in Clayton Thursday morning was used in a robbery before the driver crashed.

Police say two men with a gun robbed three people, then drove away in the car. Officers chased the vehicle, which hit a deer, causing it to crash and catch fire.

The men, both in their 20s, ran off following the crash but left a gun in the car. According to police, the heat from the fire caused the bullets to explode in the car.

Both men were arrested and face robbery and armed criminal action charges.
