ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating after two men were left dead overnight Monday morning in separate shootings in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the two shootings occurred only blocks apart from each other within an hour and a half.

The first shooting took place around 12 a.m. overnight Monday morning on the 4300 block of St. Ferdinand Avenue in north St. Louis’ The Ville neighborhood.

When authorities arrived on the scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside an apartment building. The man would later be pronounced dead, according to police.

According to police, the second shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. on the 3000 block of North Newstead Avenue in north St. Louis’ Greater Ville neighborhood, a few blocks away from the first shooting.

When police arrived on the scene, authorities found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The man would receive treatment but would later succumb to his injuries.
