MISSOURI – While Missouri is known as the “Show Me State,” it’s also been deemed the “Cave State” as there are around 7,500 caves, according to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources—and two of them were voted as some of the best in the country.
According to Newsweek, Bridal Cave in Camdenton and Mark Twain Cave Complex in Hannibal hold the titles as some of America’s best cave adventures, coming in at number five and six, respectively.
Further south of the heart of Lake of the Ozarks is Bridal Cave, Bridal Cave has welcomed guests for over 75 years. Visitors can choose different tours to venture on—from family-friendly and educational to lantern and black-light tours which offer different perspectives inside the cave—there’s something for everyone.
Bridal Cave is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., located at 526 Bridal Cave Rd.
Mark Twain Cave Complex is deemed Missouri’s oldest show cave, according to its website. Tourists can spend an hour walking through a portion of the cave which features all kinds of history through the stories behind it as well as some of the decoration along the cave–which include Mark Twain’s signature.
Mark Twain Cave Complex is open year-round with hours varying throughout the year, located at 300 Cave Hollow Rd.
