ST. LOUIS – A forgotten bus stop near Soulard has been completely transformed, turning into a vibrant, accessible space for transit riders and the community.
Citizens for Modern Transit and AARP in St. Louis, in partnership with Metro Transit, the city of St. Louis, St. Louis REALTORS® and Ameren Missouri, unveiled the new space today after a 14-month-long process.
The $115,000 investment added pedestrian infrastructure, seating, lighting, green space and a custom-designed bus shelter inspired by Soulard’s history.
“This project shows how small infrastructure changes can have a big impact—improving safety, building ridership and engaging the community.”
This marks the seventh Transit Stop Transformation Project in the region and the first in the City of St. Louis.
Organizers say they hope to continue making transit stops more welcoming and accessible.
