SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A woman and her small dog were rescued on Sunday after falling through ice on a frozen pond in Springfield.

Video shared by the Springfield Fire Department shows the rescue of the woman and her dog as two officers tied to ropes reached for the woman, who is seen bobbing in the water.

The woman had reportedly run out onto the pond, chasing her dog, who had fallen into the water.

The woman was taken to the hospital, and according to the fire department, the woman’s “core temperature was low, which happens very quickly in these conditions.”
