ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Webster Groves man has been charged with killing his own brother with a hatchet in the home they shared.

According to Lt. Jillian McCoy, a spokeswoman for the Webster Groves Police Department, officers were sent to the 500 block of South Old Orchard Avenue just after 9:10 a.m. Tuesday to conduct a wellness check for Peter Fox. His employer requested the wellness check after Peter no-showed work for two days.

Officers found Peter on a couch in the front living room, with a hatchet in his head. Peter was 64, according to a probable cause statement.

Officers continued their search of the home and found Peter’s brother, Timothy Fox, 58, in a rear living room.

Police said Timothy asked, “How did you guys find out about this?” and “How did you know he was here?” to the officers at the home. Timothy was taken into custody.

On Wednesday, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Timothy Fox with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Fox remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
