ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Webster Groves man was arrested late last month after authorities received an online tip that the man had been exchanging images and videos of child pornography.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the police received information that Joseph Seiffert (age not provided) had been using the messenger app Kik to share the illicit material with another individual.
Police said Seiffert had discussed facilitating criminal acts against the underage children seen in the materials.
When police went to Seiffert’s home, he allegedly confessed to deleting information from his cell phone. However, the videos containing child sexual abuse material were recovered.
Police said Seiffert further admitted to secretly filming an adult in the home.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Seiffert with first-degree promoting child pornography, possession of child pornography – first offense, invasion of privacy, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, and three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Seiffert remains jailed on a $75,000 cash-only bond. He’s next due in court on Nov. 21 for a preliminary hearing.
