WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. – Authorities with the Webster Groves Police Department are attempting to allay community concerns after a person was found dead in a home Tuesday morning.

According to Lt. Jillian McCoy, a police spokeswoman, officers were sent to the 500 block of South Old Orchard Avenue just after 9:10 a.m. to conduct a wellness check for someone.

Officers found that individual dead inside the home. That person’s identity has not been released.

McCoy said a person of interest was taken into custody at the scene.

Webster Groves Police Chief Vincent Acevez stressed that investigators do not believe there is any safety threat to the community.

“We understand the community may have concerns, and we want to reassure residents that we believe this is an isolated incident,” he said.

Police have not released any additional information.
