ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A Wentzville man is in custody for a fatal shooting last weekend outside an O’Fallon apartment complex.

According to the O’Fallon Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened just after 3:45 a.m. on March 15, at the Casalon Parkway Apartments.

Police said Te’Shawn D. Jones and the victim were hanging out at a mutual friend’s residence at Casalon. Jones and the victim started arguing after Jones accused the victim of “disrespecting” one of his friends.

Jones and the victim went outside to the parking lot and continued arguing, police said. Both men pulled out handguns but kept them pointed at the ground while they pushed one another with their free hand.

A third person, said to be one of Jones’ friends, approached with a gun in his hand but kept the weapon pointed toward the ground.

Police said the victim pushed Jones again and Jones raised his gun and fired three shots at the victim. The victim was shot in the head and died. Jones left the area in a car.

Investigators said multiple witnesses identified Jones as the shooter. A surveillance camera pointed at the parking lot recorded the shooting the victim kept his gun pointed at the ground.

One of the rounds Jones fired went through a lower-level apartment and narrowly missed an uninvolved bystander who was sleeping on their couch, police said.

According to police, Jones attempted to intimidate witnesses by sending them cryptic messages on the Snapchat app.

The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Jones with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. Jones remains jailed on a $1 million cash-only bond. A future court date could not be found in online records at the time of publication.
