LEWIS COUNTY, Mo. – A teenager from Wentzville died in a wrong-way crash overnight in rural Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP reports an 18-year-old man from Wentzville died after a crash in Lewis County.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 61 near Canton, Missouri.


Exotic cat ‘humanely euthanized’ following car accident injury

A MSHP crash reports state that the 18-year-old driver was heading southbound in the northbound lane of U.S. 61 and struck a vehicle in the northbound lane. Investigators say the 18-year-old’s vehicle then struck a median. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

MSHP did not report any injuries for the other driver involved, identified as a semi-truck driver and 35-year-old from Apple Valley, Minnesota.

MSHP Troop B, which covers much of northeastern Missouri, is investigating the crash.
