ST. LOUIS – Breakfast for some and snacks for others, Pop-Tarts are one of the most beloved treats in American food culture.

As new research shows in Missouri and Illinois, not everyone enjoys their Pop-Tarts the same way, specifically when it comes to the flavors.

A freshly-baked study from titled “The United States of Pop-Tarts: What’s Your Favorite Flavor?” found out the best Pop-Tart flavor in all 50 states. The study was inspired by the upcoming Pop-Tart themed movie “Unfrosted,” which will debut in theaters on Friday.

For the two states in the St. Louis metro, the preferences in Pop-Tart flavors are slightly different.

According to the study, Missouri’s most popular Pop-Tart flavor is Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, while Illinois’ most popular flavor is Frosted S’mores.

Frosted Strawberry was considered the most popular flavor as the top choice in 13 states. S’mores was second as the top choice in nine states. Brown Sugar Cinnamon was third as the top choice in seven states.

The results are based on a survey that consisted of more than 2,000 U.S. participants in March 2024.

The study also found that around 48% of Americans prefer their Pop-Tarts toasted, while 42% prefer to eat them straight from the wrapper and 10% are indifferent.
