ST. LOUIS – With early voting ending on Feb. 5, here’s what St. Louisans should know about upcoming important dates for the primary municipal election this March.

Voters will be making their voices heard in selecting a mayor, comptroller, as well as voting for Alderman in wards 3 and 11.

In-person no excuse needed absentee voting starts

On Feb. 18, in-person no excuse needed absentee voting begins. Ever since Aug. 28, 2022, according to the City of St. Louis’ official website, two absentee voting options exist for St. Louisans.

With no excuse absentee voting, voters can vote in-person absentee during the two weeks before each election. This process, however, is a bit different from application-based absentee voting.

Some differences include:

  • Voters do not need to provide an excuse
  • Voters must bring some form of photo identification, as no provisional ballots are available
  • Voters do not need to apply for an absentee ballot
  • There are no mail-in ballot options for no excuse absentees

No excuse absentee voting is only available at certain polling locations, which include:

  • Buder Library, 4401 Hampton Ave., 63109
  • Carpenter Branch Library, 3309 S Grand Ave., 63118
  • Divoll Library, 4234 N Grand Blvd., 63107
  • Kingshighway Branch Library, 2260 S Vandeventer Ave., 63110
  • Schlafly Library, 225 N Euclid Ave., 63108
  • St. Louis City Election Board, 300 N Tucker Blvd., 63101
  • Walnut Park Library, 5760 W Florissant Ave., 63120

Last day for requesting application-based absentee ballot by mail

The following day, Feb. 19, is the last day for St. Louisans to request an application-based absentee ballot by mail. For application-based absentee voting, voters can apply to vote absentee by mail or in-person up to six weeks prior to each election, according to the City of St. Louis’ official website. Registered voters interested in this process must submit an application to vote absentee for each election before an actual absentee ballot can be given.

Last day to vote absentee in person (for both application-based absentee voting & no excuse needed absentee voting)

March 3 — one day before election — will be the last chance for St. Louisans to vote absentee in-person at their respective polling locations
