ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis woman is accused of abusing animals at her home in the city’s Hill neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, an officer was dispatched to the 5400 block of Bischoff Avenue on the morning of April 6 for a separate incident. While responding to the call, the officer was informed that Brittney Standley, 37, was abusing multiple animals under her care.

The officer searched Standley’s property and found two ducks, one of which was already dead and the other has since passed. The officer was told Standley abused her dog and neighbor’s dog.

One witness said she had video of Standley injuring the ducks, which was posted on social media. Another witness told the officer she saw Standley repeatedly punch one of the dogs.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Standley with one count of animal abuse. Standley is due in court on April 15 for a detention hearing and again on May 6 for a standard hearing.
