CASTLE POINT, Mo. — A woman is facing charges after a 4-year-old girl died Monday. Detrice Young, 56, has been charged in the death.
Aubreeyonna Muex was pronounced dead at Christian Hospital following the shooting at a home in the 10500 block of Castle Drive on January 27. According to police, the shooting happened while Young and two other adults were sleeping in the home with three children, ages 2, 4, and 11.
People in the home reported being woken up by the sound of a gunshot. They found the 4-year-old and a 2-year-old child at the foot of Young’s bed with the weapon. Young, who admitted to keeping the gun under her pillow every night, was the only person in the home who owned a firearm, police said.
Young faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, creating substantial risk, and endangering the welfare of a child first degree, resulting in death. She is being held on a $50,000 bond.
